Of Arms & the Law

I just discovered this excellent blog while visiting Michelle Malkin's site. Did you know that the voters of San Francisco banned handguns? Come April, it'll be open season on law-abiding citizens. Thank goodness I'll never be there.

Mindy (mail):
Then people who want to own guns can move out of San Franciso, just like people who are dudes who want to marry other dudes can move out of Texas.

You're catching on, Mindy. When the law-abiding gun-owning citizens leave, there will be two groups left: armed criminals and helpless people. It will not be pretty.

Keith,

Have you read the story of the woman in Arlington that shot and intruder that was hiding in the closet. He was being chased by the cops, so he boke into a woman's house and was hiding. When she got home she noticed footprints and then found him. He tried to grab her gun, so she shot him in the leg since he wasn't armed. All this was recorded on a 911 tape. It was great. Now if she didn't own that handgun and protect her family, who knows what he could have done to them, rape, murder. Fortunately, we won't have to read about that kind of ending.

San Francisco is the personification of ideological idiocy over common sense. They want to reduce crime so they ban handguns, emulating the policies of two of the most crime-ridden cities in America. This in the face of incontrovertible evidence from all over the rest of the country that liberalizing gun laws reduces crime.

You’ll have to remember that SF is the city that decided to “solve” homelessness by giving a stipend of about $400 a month to every bum in the city, after which they were shocked, shocked to discover that the homelessness problem actually increased. So I’ll make a prediction right now. Five years from now the crime rate in SF will have gone up, and city leaders will be scratching their heads wondering how this could be possible.
